our Nov overview email + new pod ep

Dear ones -

Here's our November overview email with:

  • a tarot card for our little collective for the month;
  • today’s New Moon podcast episode;
  • and upcoming events/ ways to work with me.

Tarot card for November:

I always encourage folks who get my readings to look at the card themselves first and notice what comes up in their bodies. What emotions or sensations are stirred? What thoughts and stories seem to pop to mind? What do you find yourself repelled by or drawn to? We’ll all have a slightly different flavor of noticing connected to the card and that’s all part of how the images and archetypes of the cards are wanting to work with each of us individually.

Now for my interpretation(s): The Mirror is the equivalent of the Hanged Man card in the official R-W deck. It’s a Major Arcana card, meaning the archetype here has less to say about the smaller seasons and cycles of our lives and more to say about the larger journeys we’re on, personally and collectively. These cards hold more of a fated energy- they are inevitable moments we encounter in our journeys of being alive, of being human, of becoming wise.

The energies of this card seem very apropos for this moment of entering the dark half of the year- if we’re the figure in the boat, the dead awaiting a rebirth, then there’s a sense of liminal space here. Of being between life and death, land and water, illusion and dream, man-made and nature. Also perhaps a reminder that the world is our mirror as we are its reflection - dead and alive.

We are being invited to change our perspective, to get still so we can see something that’s been hidden. What exactly it means that the merwoman holds the mirror, but emphasizes the moon (a mirror of the sun and the illumination of the more feminine and intuitive realms)… I’ll leave it to you to feel into. But the energies of mystery, liminality, change, and inevitable yet challenging encounters will most likely be present this month. We have to look into the dark, pull back the veils, and yet also discern between dreams and illusions or delusions. The card is not one of comfort - it’s one of surrender.

A New Podcast Episode:

What distinguishes a pilgrimage from everyday life?

Did our long-ago ancestors suffer from burnout or purpose anxiety? And, if not, why?

These are two main questions I’m exploring at the one month mark of being back in Scotland after my epic ancestral pilgrimage here (and in Ireland) last year.

In this episode you’ll hear me muse about:

  • what being on pilgrimage means and whether we can practice it even if we can’t leave home;
  • connecting with our ancestral tapestries through food, language, song, and story;
  • what might be possible if we brought more wonder, magic, and vulnerability back to the small moments of life;
  • why I suspect our ancestors didn’t struggle with purpose anxiety;
  • if worrying about purpose is actually a way of seeking validation;
  • a basic definition of ‘integration’;

… and more.

Do you have ways of practicing pilgrimage (whether through travel or at home)? What is your way of being curious about the universe?

I’d love to hear.

Ways to Work With Me This Month:

Wisdom Wednesday

If you’re feeling the need for a energetic reset or grounding (election season and recent disasters and ongoing genocides in the US and abroad can be a lot to hold); pop in Wednesday, October 6th at 12pm ET, for a 15-20min group attunement followed by around the fire-style Q&A and conversation. PWYC. An informal group space to gather. Grab your spot here.

1:1

I do have a few more spaces for 1:1 work right now. These sessions are a great way to commit to your own aliveness - especially if you’re feeling caught between running away from your life or dying in it and you don’t want to do either but can’t seem to see another way. If that sparks some curiosity, or a ‘yes’ of some kind in you, you’re welcome to let me know. I’m happy to chat with you about whether we’re a right fit at this time (and no, that’s not euphemism for “say all the ‘right’ things to make you think we’re a fit”). I’m currently in the process of reworking this (and other) pages on my website; so the best way to proceed would be to reach out to me so I can make sure you have the most accurate and up-to-date info as you make your decision.

(UPCOMING) - Insight 2025

In early/mid- December, Insight will be back! Intuitive card readings to tap into the archetypal energies wanting to guide and support your growth through 2025. Hi! I'm Kate - an intuitive, medicine woman, and guide for embodied Presence

I care with every fiber of my being that you, a creature of soul and soil, are trying to thrive in systems not designed for you. Where ancient wounds of disconnect, inherited traumas, and misalignments with our over-culture leave you feeling out of place, too much, or like a canary in the mine, I see invitations back deeper into your own aliveness; vital next steps to a wiser, more relational future. Let’s navigate your big questions and transitions together. I’ll support you living meaningfully in this world even though you may feel like you were designed for a different one. I’ll keep you orienting to the truth, heart, and essential wholeness of who you are at the edge of great joy and when you need your feet held to the fire of your own journey. Dear ones - Here we are - the final month of the year in the Gregorian calendar. I’m writing to you from Ireland and here on Éire and Alba (the longer ago names for Ireland and Scotland), our ancestors would have acknowledged the new year as having already begun at Samhain, end of October, early November. This season, instead of being a time of rushing and full schedules and celebrations, would’ve been recognized as the dark, lean times of the year -where food and fuel are scarce and...

Dear ones - We each have a fire within us. And we need our fire in these times, perhaps more than ever. What if your fear of being seen as lazy is wasting your fire and contributing to your burnout? And what if what we’ve been taught to consider as laziness is our body and brain trying to recalibrate back to more sustainable cycles of efforting and rest? Your desire to contribute and make a difference is a genuine and beautiful thing… and when it gets entangled with (often unconscious and...

Dear ones - I just wanted to drop you a note in the wake of the US election and the heightened emotions and stress many people are feeling right now. A reminder: What you are feeling is ok, and probably a healthy response. To respond as if under threat when you are under threat is good. It's not sustainable. Nor does it do much to create a new world. But for now, feel the feels. Breathe. Hydrate. Get out into Nature. Gather and grieve together. Touch solid things like trees. Gently pet your...
